Trial of Dr. Conrad Murray: Day Two
Dr. Conrad Murray

As day two of the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray commenced earlier today (September 28), the courtroom saw an array of witnesses take the stand to recount the days ahead of Michael Jackson's death.

Among those to address the jurors were co-chief executive of AEG Live, Paul Gongaware, Kathy Jorrie, the lawyer responsible for drafting a contract for AEG between Michael and Dr. Murray, as well as Michael's personal assistant Michael Amir Williams.

While Gongaware explained that Murray was offered a sum of $150,000 a month to treat Jackson, Miss Jorie further detailed the interactions between the company responsible for organizing the pop star's comeback shows and his doctor.

While on the stand, Jorrie told jurors that she had spoken to Conrad on June 24th - a day before Jackson's death - when he told her that he had watched Michael perform and that he was in "perfect health."

Jorrie also revealed that Dr. Murray had requested the purchase of a CPR machine and an additional doctor for Michael be worked into their agreement, as he wanted to make sure "if something went wrong" he would have the machine and in case he was tired or away that there was "somebody else available for assistance."

When Jackson's assistant Michael Amir Williams took to the stand, he recounted the panicked message he received from Conrad at 12:13 pm on the 25th, saying, "call me right away," before he told him that Michael had a "bad reaction" and that someone needed to get there immediately.

Following the witnesses testimony, Murray's defense team argued that Jackson had died “instantly” due to a massive overdose administered by himself, explaining that he digested eight two-milligram lorazepam pills and then gave himself an extra dose of the powerful sedative propofol without his client's knowledge.

If convicted on the charge of involuntary manslaughter, Dr. Conrad Murray faces up to four years behind bars.
